Top Leadership requires Top Coaching. Everyone leads in some way. Leadership is strength. A Coach is there to connect the Leader to his strength.
Leadership is acquired by will or enforced by nature. Suddenly one is a mother or a father. With time one evolves into a position of responsibility at work. One thing is sure in all Leadership situations: having clarity of purpose and knowing who we really are and what is important to us. Lessons of Leadership are, in my opinion, lessons of authenticity. Being authentic means being congruent and living with integrity by which we find our good self. Hence, we have the chance to be known and loved for who we really are. Our external actions therefore correspond to being true to our inner values, beliefs, and ambitions.
Becoming a Leader is a development of our potential. It takes time, experiences and guidance by a Coach.
We interpret each situation in the light of our own filters, beliefs and values. These can be limiting. It is therefore important to re-examine them. The idea is to eliminate the unconscious ones that control us and sometimes sabotage us. Instead, acquiring other more empowering beliefs & values would serve us better.
It is precisely at this level that Coaching makes full sense.
Coaching allows us to deepen our knowledge of ourselves. Knowing who we are allows us to grow. Our challenge is to reveal both the good things in us as well as our inner disorders. In this way, the Coach leads us towards the awareness of our past ghosts and our self-sabotaging mechanisms.
As a result, we gradually develop our inner calm, a crucial element in learning how to direct ourselves before we can learn how to direct others.
This is how the Leader builds his identity, develops his courage, becomes inspiring to those around him, increases his intuition and transmits his passion. This will attract willing followers who may become future Leaders.
